The Only Way Home

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been taking a close look at Jesus’ words in John 14:6: "I am THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
We’ve talked about what it means for Jesus to be the only Way, the absolute Truth, and the very source of Life. But today, I want us to look at the phrase that ties it all together—the part that can sometimes feel a little uncomfortable or exclusive to people:
"No one comes to the Father except through Me."
Notice how simple that is. Jesus doesn't lay out a complicated 50-step program. He doesn't give us a massive list of religious hoops to jump through. He points to one tiny, clear word: through.
Think about a door. If you want to walk into your house, you don't climb through the chimney or try to dig under the foundation. You just walk through the front door. The door isn't there to complicate your life or keep you out in the cold—it’s there as the clear, open entrance to get you safely inside.
That’s what Jesus is saying here. He didn't come to set up a maze of religious performance. He came to be the door.
So often, we try to complicate salvation. We think, "Surely I have to clean up my act first," or "I need to add my own good works, my church attendance, or my moral effort to the equation." But when we try to come to God based on our own efforts, we’re trying to build our own side entrance. And Jesus makes it plain: there are no side entrances to the Father.
Going through Christ simply means acknowledging that you can't save yourself, stopping your own striving, and placing all your trust in what He did for you on the cross. It’s stepping through the door He opened with His own life.
So what does this mean for our daily walk this week?
It means you can breathe a sigh of relief.
You don't have to figure out a complex formula to be accepted by God. You don't have to carry the burden of earning His love. The doorway to the Father is wide open, and the path is as simple as it gets: it’s all Jesus, from start to finish.
When life feels overwhelming and religion feels complicated, just bring it back to that simple truth. Walk through the Door. Trust in Him.
