Grab a fresh cup of coffee and pull up a chair.
When someone first steps into a relationship with Jesus, it’s supposed to be a moment of incredible peace and relief. But so often, what follows is an avalanche of clutter.
Well-meaning advice, complex religious rules, human opinions, and competing ideologies start flying in from every direction. Before long, a new believer feels like they’re standing in the middle of a crowded room where ten people are shouting different instructions at once: "You need to read this book," "You must follow this system," "You have to take this position on every cultural debate."
It doesn't take long to get completely overwhelmed.
In Ephesians 4, Paul addresses this exact storm. He encourages us to grow so "that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning..."
Paul isn't telling us to become rigid or closed-off. He’s telling us to drop an anchor!
Human religion loves to complicate things with extra baggage, fine print, and endless checklists. But the Gospel is remarkably unburdened. Keeping our walk with Christ simple—anchored entirely on Who He is and what He accomplished on the cross—protects us from being swept around by every new opinion or human philosophy that comes along.
Clearing away the spiritual clutter doesn't restrict your walk; it frees it up. It takes the pressure off trying to manage a hundred complex religious expectations so you can focus on the only One who matters.
If you’ve been feeling tossed around by all the noise lately, take a deep breath today. Strip away the extra baggage, clear off the bench, and just look to Jesus.
Simple.
Until next time, keep your heart anchored in the Simple Truth.
